Value Comes From God
At the end of every competition, the scoreboard clearly indicates who won. It reveals an outcome that, to the viewing public, is often all that matters. In history books, the outcome is what is remembered. It is economically valuable. Unfortunately, it is the only barometer of performance. This is a very problematic reality. The scoreboard is viewed concretely. It is an either/or proposition. It is good if you win or bad if you lose. The problem with the scoreboard is that it only shows the final score; it does not include the many factors that contribute to the final result. Once the points are posted, all of these factors are forgotten. Because athletes use performance to gain value, the scoreboard creates a dissonance that can’t be understood. It is a dangerous instrument.
Have you ever listened to a press conference? There is no room for the narrative. In fact, those athletes that desire to give context for a loss or poor performance are labeled as “excuse makers or blame shifters”. This creates discord for the athlete.
Athlete, the scoreboard will not change. The public will not change. You have to change. You have to understand that the scoreboard is broken. You cannot get your value from your performance. It will ruin you.
Where should you get your value from?
I would suggest getting your value from someone who doesn’t change, from someone whose opinion will stand the test of time.
